We Are Story Tellers
Last night in Montreal, the stage was set for an electrifying evening of music, featuring the bands Portraits and Sungazer. Both acts showcased extraordinary musicianship, leaving the crowd in awe with their technical prowess and captivating performances.
Portraits kicked off the night, delivering a unique blend of progressive metal and jazz influences. The band, a tightly rehearsed four-piece ensemble, displayed their remarkable skills with a guitarist who played what appeared to be an eight-string guitar and a bassist on a six-string bass. Their performance was filled with jaw-dropping guitar solos and rapid basslines that demonstrated a high level of musical expertise.
One of the standout moments was their performance of an older track, “Time Traveller.” While the band performed entirely instrumental pieces that evening, it was mentioned that one of their songs includes a vocalist, though he wasn’t present for this show. The musicians’ technical abilities and deep knowledge of music theory were evident throughout their set, earning enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Following Portraits, Sungazer took the stage, bringing their signature groovy jazz sound. The band’s saxophonist stole the spotlight with an incredible performance, while the bassist—who also served as the evening’s main spokesperson—kept the energy high with engaging interactions with the crowd.
Sungazer’s lineup included one of Portraits’ guitarists, whose mind-blowing solos impressed the audience once again. The band members, dressed in matching outfits, displayed flawless technique as they delivered an instrumental set packed with energy and complexity.
Currently on a massive tour across Europe, Canada, and the USA, Sungazer continues to showcase their immense talent and passion for music. The night was a testament to the skill and dedication of both bands, making it an unforgettable experience for fans of progressive and jazz music alike.
