Hidden Beats took over Winnipeg this weekend to check out Tenille Townes live at The Park Theatre. Recently renovated, The Park Theatre is a fully general admission venue maintaining a familiar and cozy vibe we all love. This was a pretty amazing night for Winnipeg with some great live music and coming off an amazing win for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers taking home the Grey Cup. Needless to say, it was a night full of great energy.
Tim and The Glory Boys
Starting out the night is Tim and The Glory Boys. Joining Tenille for several nights of the tour, Tim and The Glory Boys is a Canadian Band with members from Manitoba and BC. The band itself is a 4 piece with amazing harmonized vocals and a mix of great instrumentals. Playing both originals and some crowd favorite covers, they made sure to get the crowd in the right mood for the night. One of the highlights was the cover of My Church by Maren Morris. The crowd loved it so much they even turned the mics towards them and let them sing some verses. The boys did their jobs well and the crowd ate it up.
Tenille Townes
Now to our main event of the evening. On her first-ever heading tour, Tenille is tearing it up all across the country. The first time we saw Tenille was actually back at the Boots n Hearts festival and she has been on the rise ever since. Hitting the stage with a full house, Tenille brought great energy and stage presence. You can really tell she enjoys what she does singing and playing with her heart and dancing with all her songs.
She made sure to take the time to connect with the crowd even doing a cover of Ironic by Alanis Morissette which everyone in the crowd sang along with as well as gave her band a break with some solo playing. One of the stand-out moments of the night was when she took the time to explain the inspiration for Jersey on The Wall. Tenille teared up a little and needless to say so did everyone else in the crowd. You got a lot more insight into the heart behind the singer which means a lot.
Ending the night
Country music isn’t always in my wheelhouse but I can certainly say this was a great night. Tenille Townes live at The Park Theatre was a perfect way to end out the night during an amazing weekend. People have been stuck inside for so long live music just makes you feel that much better
