They released their 12th and final album entitled Let it Be, on May 8th 1970. Truly, this was the end of an era.

May 9th
Irish singer Sinead O’Connor announced her refusal to perform on Saturday Night Live on May 9th 1990 due to controversial comedian Andrew Dice Clay set to host on the same night. Sinead did not want to appear on the same episode with a comedian who she believed promoted sexual violence and was regarded as anti-woman. This will not be the last time Sinead and SNL are discussed in the same breath. See you all in October!

This Week in Music – May 12th
On this date in 1973, Paul Simon embarks on his first solo tour of his career.
Paul was half of the legendary duo Simon & Garfunkle and went on to have an extremely successful solo career, topped off with 6 RIAA certified Platinum albums.
