We The Kings Stopped In Ann Arbor

The Blind Pig on 6/11/2025 was one of those rare nights where nostalgia, local energy, and pop-punk collided into a sweaty, sing-along packed blur. We The Kings stopped in Ann Arbor on a break from their current tour, and with Michigan’s own Something Missing opening, the night felt both big and incredibly personal.

Something Missing Sets the Stage

Walking into the venue around 7:30, the crowd was already electric. A packed audience formed early, and I’m glad they did. Something Missing absolutely delivered. The band, local to Ann Arbor, had something to prove on the stage. Mica, the vocalist, explained to the audience, “This is the biggest show we have ever played.” Their sound is distinctive- think pop-punk with Midwest emo. They’ve clearly gained a new following after tonight. Their set contained some catchy originals, a Mayday Parade cover, and everyone vibing along. Their set wasn’t flashy but just honest, energetic rock and a band clearly having a blast. The perfect setup for the rest of the night.

We The Kings Bring the Nostalgia

By the time We The Kings took the stage just after 9. It felt like stepping back into 2008. It felt like the feeling of reconnecting with an old friend who’s grown a little but still knows how to party. They opened with “When We Were Young,” and the crowd lost it. Phones out, hands up, and voices loud. They played songs like “Skyway Avenue,” a mash-up of “Just Keep Breathing” with Coldplay’s “Fix You,” and “She Takes Me High. Travis, the vocalist, joked in between songs about a banner behind them that they had never seen before. He pointed out that it looked like it said “WGTHE” before jumping into covers of “Wonderwall,” “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” and “Mr. Brightside”-turning the room into a packed karaoke night. He claimed WGTHE wrote those songs and that they were, in fact, originals. They closed the night with “Check Yes Juliet,” which turned The Blind Pig into a happy, screaming mess. The band was clearly feeding off the crowd, joking between songs and grinning like they were having just as much fun as we were.

The Blind Pig: A Perfect Fit

The Blind Pig was the perfect venue for this show. Small enough that it felt intimate but loud enough to feel alive. If you’ve never been, it’s got this grungy charm that is nothing fancy but at the same time feels like home. The sound last night? Spot on. Just clean, loud, craziness. The crowd was all in from the start of the night—ranging from die-hard We The Kings fans to college kids about to leave school who probably stumbled in because they had nothing better to do. The night had something for everyone: comedy, pop-punk bangers, and sing-alongs that gave a perfect Wednesday night a memorable feeling.
