We Are Story Tellers

While She Sleeps / Bury tomorrow / Vended at L’Olympia

Three generations of heavy music collided at L’Olympia this past Saturday, delivering a stacked lineup that satisfied every kind of metalcore fan.

Vended

Kicking off the night with raw intensity, Vended proved they’re more than just the sons of Slipknot legends. Fronted by Griffin Taylor on vocals and Simon Crahan on drums, the band also includes Cole Espeland and Connor Grodzicki on guitars, with Jeremiah Pugh on bass. Their aggressive fusion of nu-metal and hardcore delivered a visceral punch, with tracks from their What Is It // Kill It EP setting a furious tone. The crowd fed off their youthful energy – brash, relentless, and hungry to claim their own spotlight.

Bury Tomorrow

Bury Tomorrow followed with a tight, melodic metalcore set that showcased just how polished and anthemic the Southampton band has become. Vocalist Dani Winter-Bates’ growls paired seamlessly with Tom Pendergast’s soaring clean vocals and keys, backed by brothers Davyd and Kristan Dawson on bass and guitar, and Ed Hartwell on rhythm guitar. Their 2023 album The Seventh Sun got plenty of love, especially standout tracks like “Boltcutter,” which stirred mosh pits and singalongs alike. It was a set that balanced ferocity with clarity and proved why bury Tomorrow remains a staple in the genre.

While She Sleeps

Headliners While She Sleeps brought the night to a massive, emotionally charged finale. Hailing from Sheffield, the five-piece – Lawrence “Loz” Taylor on vocals, Sean Long and Mat Welsh on guitars, Aaran McKenzie on bass and Adam Savage on drums – blur the lines between metalcore, punk, and alt-metal. Songs from their recent SELF HELL album exploded live, especially the title track “TO THE FLOWERS,” with the band’s trademark cathartic energy in full force. The visuals, synchronized lights, and crowd engagement turned the set into more than a show – it was a rallying cry.

It was heartwarming to witness such a full room, filled with fans clearly devoted to the bands. The energy was mutual – on stage and off, it felt like everyone was exactly where they needed to be.
