X Ambassadors In Vancouver brought the New York indie-pop/rock group back to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of their debut album VHS. For some, a decade feels like a lifetime, but the night proved just how fresh those early hits still are. It felt like no time had passed since Renegades and Unsteady ruled the charts. Fans packed the Commodore Ballroom, thrilled to experience VHS performed in its entirety. The excitement was palpable, especially for those who’d hoped the band would mark this milestone with something special. The show followed their 2024 stop at the Vogue Theatre, but this performance carried a deeper sense of nostalgia and celebration. Adding to the moment, X Ambassadors recently re-recorded VHS, creating what they consider a more “refined” version of the album, a testament to both their growth and the staying power of the songs that started it all.
Before X Ambassadors took the stage in Vancouver, fans were treated to a powerhouse opening set from Delacey. Like many in the crowd, I wasn’t entirely familiar with her music at first, at least not as a solo artist. Her debut album Black Coffee dropped in 2020, but long before stepping into the spotlight, she was already making her mark as a songwriter for some of the industry’s biggest names. Her credits include The Chainsmokers’ “New York City,” Halsey’s “Without Me,” and Demi Lovato’s “Ruin the Friendship,” among others. On stage, Delacey’s breathtaking vocals commanded attention and sent chills through the room. Backed by a guitarist and drummer, she delivered an intimate yet powerful performance of songs like “Trouble,” “Lipstick,” “Boys With The Blues,” and “Breathe If You Love Me.” Each track hit with raw emotion and precision, showcasing her range and artistry. She closed her set with “French Toast,” a performance that won over the Vancouver crowd and left many craving more. It was the perfect lead-in to X Ambassadors, and judging by the audience’s reaction, a headlining show from Delacey can’t come soon enough.
Fans packed the ballroom floor, eager to relive classics they hadn’t heard live in years and ready to be transported back to 2015. As the lights dimmed, the room erupted with energy as Adam Levin (drums) and brothers Sam and Casey Harris (vocals and keyboard) took the stage. Before a single note was played, the night opened with a touching moment. Casey Harris, who is visually impaired, stood at his keyboard, embodying the resilience and passion that have fueled X Ambassadors’ journey. His presence set an inspiring tone for the evening. The band wasted no time unleashing the crowd’s excitement, kicking things off with a fiery performance of “Jungle.” The ballroom roared to life, fans singing and moving like a wild chorus. Following up with “Loveless,” Sam paused to connect with the audience, reflecting on life’s highs and lows before thanking fans for being the band’s anchor. With that, they launched into a heartfelt performance of “Hang On,” driving the night’s energy even higher.
The night featured 15 tracks that showcased the band’s full musical range. Songs like “Your Life” and “Friend for Life” set the tone, giving fans a taste of their broader catalog. But the real centerpiece came when the band dove into the full 12-track performance of VHS. From start to finish, every song had the crowd singing, dancing, and holding on to every note. The energy in the room was electric, with fans fully immersed in the moment. By the time the final notes rang out, the entire ballroom felt like it was floating. The biggest eruptions of the night came during “Renegades” and “Unsteady,” when the audience’s voices rose so loudly they nearly drowned out the band. It was a fitting climax to a night built on nostalgia, connection, and celebration.
X Ambassadors In Vancouver closed the night on a powerful high with “HOLD YOU DOWN” from their album Orion. The crowd, already hoarse from a night of nonstop singing, pushed their voices to the limit one last time. Carrying the final chorus with unrelenting energy. As the last note faded, fans erupted, shouting their love and gratitude. Sam, Casey, and Adam stood on stage, taking it all in. The band returned that energy with heartfelt thanks. Creating a shared moment between artist and audience that felt unforgettable. When the lights came up, fans spilled into the Vancouver streets, still buzzing from the experience. Many couldn’t stop replaying the night in their heads. Hoping they wouldn’t have to wait long for the next X Ambassadors In Vancouver performance.
