Harlem Globetrotters In Ottawa
First Impressions
On February 1st, 2026 The Harlem Globetrotters celebrate their 100 years of being a sports team and bring their talents to show case them at the Canadian Tire Centre here in Ottawa, Canada. If you know anything about the Globetrotters, you would know they are all about family fun, crowd pleasers, comedians that deliver an unreal show that is full of amazing talent all mixed into a great show. It seems like the number one goal of the Globetrotters is to make sure the audience is involved a lot by literally getting them involved either by bringing someone onto the court, the players go into the crowd and take pictures, sit on laps or even reenacting scenes from Disney’s The Lion King by holding a baby up.
What Stood Out
The Globetrotters faced off against the Washington Generals, in a high, energy very back and forth basketball game. Known for their unique blend of sports and entertainment, The globetrotters continued their tradition of memorable experience for the fans.
Both teams showcased their spectacular skills, from dazzling tricks and basketball skills. From behind the back passed, to their high flying dunks the players definitely had the crowd up on their feet cheering. The comedy interaction with the audience is amazing, it was pretty difficult to focus on getting some photos when you are laughing so hard. The Globetrotters are so very much crowd-first; they seem to always be interacting with someone, either bringing someone onto the court, talking to the people in their seats, giving high fives, and even dancing with the players themselves as they go into the crowd.
The opposing team the Generals are often seen as the underdog in their game and i have to give them a lot of credit for keeping the Globetrotters on their toes and keeping the score so close till the very end.
The event was more than just a game; it was a family-friendly spectacle. Fans of all ages were seen laughing, cheering and participating in all the fun and action throughout the entire game.
How it Finished
The end of the game came down to the final minute, score tied up at 126 both teams fight to win. With having chances on both sides of the court the Generals and Globetrotters fought to gain possession and win it, but as the buzzer goes neither teams was successful at getting the final point.
We now go into overtime! Here in the extra times, the first team to score a point wins. The jump off takes place and Harlem gains possession takes it down the court and in dramatic fashion team captain Hammer goes in for a slam duck to win it for his team.
Final Take
whether you are a basketball fan or just in it for the laughs, the Harlem Globetrotters continue to be a unique force of the world in sports entertainment and always a blast when they come through our city.
