The Harlem Globetrotters in Montréal
First Impressions
The Harlem Globetrotters 100 Year Anniversary in Montréal took place at the home of the Montreal Canadiens, the Bell Centre, in downtown Montreal. The team is known for their hilarious antics during games and strong crowd involvement, and the atmosphere reflected that from the start. They are also widely recognized for their charitable work, supporting SickKids and underprivileged communities around the world.
What Stood Out
Early in the show, the Globetrotters impressed the crowd with trick shots, including throwing basketballs from the stands and actually making some of them.
A standout moment was when they helped their 4-foot-5 teammate complete a slam dunk by lifting him up.
The mic’d-up “showman” added constant humour, including stealing underwear from the Washington Generals, lifting a child from the stands to The Lion King music, and even taking popcorn from a fan before returning it in the form of a massive oversized bag that required multiple people to carry.
How it Finished
At the end of the game, the court was roped off so fans could get autographs and take photos with the players. The team made themselves available to interact directly with attendees.
Final Take
The night was focused on family, children, and creating happiness, blending entertainment, comedy, and basketball skills while leaving fans with a fun and memorable experience.
