There are few tours that feel like a celebration of Canadian music history quite like Alexisonfire & Billy Talent in Montréal. With thousands of fans filling the Bell Centre, the evening brought together two legendary bands, each performing one of their most celebrated albums in full before diving into fan-favourite classics.
Alexisonfire Celebrate 20 Years of Crisis
Alexisonfire marked the 20th anniversary of their landmark album Crisis, performing the record from front to back. The set featured beloved songs including “This Could Be Anywhere in the World” and “Boiled Frogs,” giving longtime fans the opportunity to experience the album in its entirety live.
After completing Crisis, the band added several hits from other albums, keeping the energy high throughout the night. The Bell Centre was packed to the brim with fans singing every lyric back to the band.
The performance also highlighted just how far Alexisonfire has come. Four years ago, they sold out MTELUS for two consecutive nights before heading to Festival d’été de Québec to open for Rage Against the Machine in front of 90,000 people. Now, alongside Billy Talent, they nearly filled the Bell Centre, another milestone in an already legendary career.
Before launching into an incredible three-song encore, the band surprised bassist Chris Steele with a late happy birthday, sung in French by the crowd. They closed their set with “Young Cardinals,” sending both the band and audience into one final eruption as fans sang every word.
Billy Talent Brings Billy Talent II to Life
Billy Talent continued the celebration by performing their second self-titled album, Billy Talent II, in its entirety for its 20th anniversary.
For many fans, the album represents more than just a collection of songs—it carries years of memories. Hearing it performed live was especially meaningful after waiting so many years to finally see the band on stage. The performance proved well worth the wait, showcasing just how powerful Billy Talent remains as a live act.
The band shared that they have been together for 33 years before moving beyond the anniversary album and into a collection of fan favourites. Songs including “Rusted From the Rain,” and “Devil on My Shoulder” kept the momentum going before the night came to a close with “Viking Death March.”
The Bell Centre was filled with fans of all ages and backgrounds, creating an atmosphere that reflected the enduring appeal of both bands.
