Evanescence in Montréal: A Powerful Return to Centre Bell with Spiritbox
vanescence in Montréal brought together generations of rock and metal fans for an unforgettable night at Centre Bell.
With Canadian heavy metal band Spiritbox opening the evening before Evanescence took the stage to celebrate their new album, the concert showcased incredible musicianship, powerful vocals, and an electric atmosphere from beginning to end.
Spiritbox
Spiritbox, the Grammy-nominated heavy metal band from Victoria, British Columbia, returned to Montréal after last performing at MTELUS during their own headlining tour last year. Frontwoman Courtney LaPlante once again demonstrated her incredible vocal range while commanding the stage with confidence and energy.
The rest of the band matched that intensity with impressive agility and a performance that highlighted why Spiritbox continues to make waves in the heavy metal scene.
Evanescence
When it was time for Evanescence in Montréal, the excitement inside Centre Bell reached another level. The American rock band returned to Montréal two years after their previous appearance, this time celebrating their new album, Sanctuary, which was released on June 5.
For many fans, Evanescence is a band that defined an era. Every emo kid remembers listening to their CDs in the mid-2000s, and for me, I remember buying one of their albums while I was in the fourth grade. Seeing them continue to perform at such a high level all these years later is something special.
Opening the set with the title track, “Sanctuary,” Evanescence immediately showcased why they remain one of rock’s most respected live acts. The band quickly followed with fan favourites including “Afterlife” and “Lithium,” with Amy Lee delivering a stunning performance of “Lithium” from behind a grand piano.
Amy Lee continues to prove why she is one of the greatest female vocalists I have ever heard. Her voice remains as powerful and captivating as ever, and seeing Evanescence return to the spotlight over the past couple of years has been incredible.
One of the biggest moments of the night came during “Fight Like a Girl,” when Courtney LaPlante of Spiritbox joined Evanescence on stage alongside The Nova Twins, creating a memorable collaboration that had the crowd fully engaged.
Closing
The passion of Evanescence’s fans and the band’s lasting legacy made this a truly special evening. Their live performance continues to be among the very best, and after another outstanding show in Montréal, I know I’ll be seeing them time and time again.
