Ottawa Jazz Fest 2026 Day 7 Ft. WILLOW
Day 7 of the 46th annual Ottawa Jazz Festival showcased some of the festival’s most adventurous programming yet. From Indigenous storytelling and genre-defying soul to WILLOW’s electrifying headlining performance, the evening celebrated artists who continue to push musical boundaries while staying deeply connected to their roots.
Fawn Wood
Opening the evening was Cree and Salish artist Fawn Wood, whose powerful voice and heartfelt storytelling created an intimate start to the night. Between songs, she shared stories and cultural teachings that added depth and meaning to her performance. It was a thoughtful and moving opening to the evening.
Witch Prophet
Taking over the Elgin Street Stage was Toronto artist Witch Prophet, blending live looping, samples, and a full band into a hypnotic performance. Drawing from jazz fusion, neo-soul, and trip-hop, her genre-defying sound captivated the audience while powerful anti-war themes gave the set an added emotional weight. It was both deeply personal and undeniably engaging.
WILLOW
By the time WILLOW stepped onto the OLG Main Stage, Confederation Park was filled with an eager crowd ready for one of the festival’s most anticipated performances. From the opening moments, she demonstrated exactly why she has become one of music’s most fearless and innovative artists.
Beginning with layered vocal loops that allowed her harmonies to build around themselves, WILLOW gradually expanded the performance into something much larger alongside her four-piece band. The transition from intimate, atmospheric moments to explosive walls of sound felt effortless, showcasing the remarkable range of her artistry.
Her guitar work intertwined beautifully with the band, creating grooves that were both intricate and powerful. Every member of the band had an opportunity to shine earning enthusiastic reactions from the audience. Rather than simply supporting WILLOW, the musicians became an essential part of the performance, each contributing to the night’s dynamic energy.
Fans were also treated to two newly released songs from WILLOW’s upcoming album, offering an exciting glimpse into the next chapter of her constantly evolving sound. Throughout the set, the crowd remained fully engaged, embracing every shift between quiet introspection and thunderous crescendos. It was a performance built on trust, experimentation, and exceptional musicianship, making it one of the standout moments of this year’s festival.

From Fawn Wood’s powerful cultural storytelling to Witch Prophet’s immersive sonic landscapes and WILLOW’s genre-defying headlining performance, Day 7 highlighted the adventurous spirit that continues to define the Ottawa Jazz Festival. It was an evening that celebrated not only technical brilliance, but also artists unafraid to challenge expectations and create something entirely their own.
