This week in music on this date back in 2005 was when the iTunes music store sold its 500 millionth song.
Horrorcore Rap artist Hopsin turns 34 today.
If you haven’t heard his music, I would recommend checking him out immediately.
On this date back in 1976, the band Deep Purple broke up for the first time.
They would reunite in 1984 with multiple different line ups, however it was their non-inclusion in the Rock N Roll hall of fame that had people talking.
Finally in 2016, they were rightfully inducted and the final band of the holy trinity of Rock and Metal were home where they belonged.
Queen guitarist Brian May turns 72 today.

This Week in Music – July 20th
On this date back in 1965, one of my favorite songs, and one of the greatest songs ever written was released.
“Like A Rolling Stone” by Bob Dylan was ahead of its time.
The different musical elements of the song brought Dylan from Folk Singer to certified Rock Star.

Chris Cornell would have turned 54 today.
Sadly the Soundgarden lead singer took in his own life after a show in Detroit Michigan in 2017.
Remember a few entries ago when I stated iTunes had sold over 500 million songs?
Well this week in music on this day in 2009, that number rose to 8 billion!
Happy birthday to Yusuf Islam who turns 71 today.
To be fair, you may only know his as singer Cat Stevens.

This week in music has the debut of so many of my favorite songs.
On this date, it was Cheap Trick releasing the hit song “Surrender”
I do not know anyone who could not get pumped up when this song comes on the radio!
Can you believe that Selena Gomez is turning 27 today?

On this date in 2011, the world lost Amy Winehouse at the age of 27.
Something about that age eh?
Happy Birthday to Slash of Guns N Roses fame who turns 54 today.
I am sure him and Axl Rose will be celebrating this occasion together while they reminisce of memories past.
