Then on this day in music in 1985, Michael Jackson proceeded to buy the catalogue of The Beatles, by out bidding McCartney with a bid of around 47 million dollars.
Ouch, that has got to hurt..

August 15 – This Week in Music

Do you know which festival began on this date in 1969 on a small farmer’s field in Bethel New York?
Woodstock of course! The festival attracted over 400 000 people (mostly hippies) and had performances by 32 bands over a three day period.
Some notables include Sanata, CCR, a pregnant Joan Baez, Jimi Hendrix, Grateful Dead and The Who.

Happy Birthday to Matt Johnson of the band The The.
No I did not misspell the name of the band. It is really called The The.
Matt turns 58 today.

The unthinkable happened this week in music in 1977.
The King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley died in his Graceland home of coronary arrhythmia.
Some people cannot seem to accept the loss and Elvis sightings are still reported constantly to this day. He was apparently even in the movie Home Alone!

Pop Queen Madonna turns 61 today.
She is due for another album and the conversion to another Religion soon enough.
August 17 – This Week in Music

It was on this date in 1995 where Courtney Love of the band Hole, had to be carried off by security because she began fighting with her own fans.
The Lollapalooza tour was a confrontational one for Love, as her antics with fellow tour members made her a very unpopular performer amongst the other acts.

On this date in 1962, Ringo Starr made his first appearance as a Beatle, after Pete Best was asked to leave the band after 2 and a half years of being their original drummer.

Now he must really know what it’s like to sing the blues.

This week in music on this date back in 2008, Lady Gaga releases her debut album, The Fame.
She would later re-release the album in 2009 under the name The Fame Monster.
Why? Because she was born that way.
